Product Review: Olay Fresh Effects

Olay has a great reputation as a company on the cutting edge of beauty product development. I have never had a problem with their products and have had sensitive skin in the past. They, once again, have come out with a whole new fun line of products called Olay Fresh Effects. They graciously sent me some of the products to test out. The coolest thing was the packaging they used to send it to me!! (see pics) It was all cardboard and it was in a relatively small box considering how huge it was when I opened it all up. Very fun and creative, Olay!

Here's some info on their new product line:

  • Treating yourself to a micro-facial has never been easier, with Olay Fresh Effects products!
  • The new Olay Fresh Effects products will leave your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated:
    • Va-Va-Vivid!- Powered Contour Cleansing System: This powerful brush with super-soft, supple bristles gently massages your skin for a healthy-looking glow and a full-face cleansing.
    • Shine, Shine Go Away!- Shine Minimizing Cleanser: This cleanser has all the purifying power of a mask, but lathers and rinses like a daily cleanser to remove 2X more dirt, oil, and make-up than basic cleansing.
    • Bead Me Up!- Exfoliating Cleanser: Foaming bubbles and exfoliating microbeads come together to gently purify and lift away dirt, while softly scrubbing your skin for a beautifully fresh, healthy look.
    • S’Wipe Out!- Refreshing Make-up Removal Cloths: These special pre-moistened cloths are covered in cottony-soft cleansing pockets  to lift away dirt and makeup – even waterproof mascara – in a flash.
    • Long Live Moisture!- Satin Finish Lotion: Lose the shine and get satiny active moisturizers keeping your skin soft and smooth for up to 24-hours!
    • BB Cream!- Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer with Sunscreen: An all-in-one solution for instantly brighter-looking, smoother-feeling, more even skin tone.

If you've had an opportunity to try the new products, which of the Olay Fresh Effects products is your favorite and how does it fit into your daily beauty routine?

Book Review: God Gave Us Easter

This is an absolutely precious book by the same author, Lisa Tawn Bergren, who brought us God Gave Us Christmas and lots of other "God Gave Us..." titles. I read it right away with the kids and they loved the story of the little polar bear and her dad trekking through the forest as they learned all about Easter. Very, very good read. It takes a hard to understand concept like Easter and explains it very well.

This book was provided to me by Waterbrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books program in exchange for my honest review.

Audio Book Review: Les Miserables

I haven't seen the movie, Les Miserables, yet...not sure if I will as I am not a huge fan of musicals, but we shall see.  I do, however, enjoy audio books and these days it is much easier to get through an audio book than a regular book. Plus, this radio drama version is only 4 hours long. I have never read the real book, so I don't know if this abridged version leaves anything to be desired, but it was definitely entertaining and interesting. It's produced by the same people who produce Focus on the Family radio theater so it is definitely family friendly radio.

This audio book was provided to me by Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review: Come to the Table

Neta Jackson has done it again. Come to the Table is the second book in her SouledOut Sisters Series...say that five times fast. I would recommend reading her books in order (starting with the Yada Yada Prayer Group Series) as she really takes her time developing her characters to where you feel like you know them; like they could be your friends. I love reading her books and only wished she could write faster!!

I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson's BookSneeze site in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review: Battle for Cannibal Island

As many of you know, I have a very awesome 7-year-old son. :) I was taught to have a love for reading at an early age and it is my desire that all of my kids love to read too. Easier said than done... When Reagan started reading, finding books that he enjoyed was easy enough, but as his level of reading progressed, I couldn't seem to find books that grabbed his attention. I tried the Magic Treehouse Series, but after a while I realized there was way too much magic in them. Finally, I discovered the Adventures in Odyssey Imagination Series from Focus on the Family. LOVE THEM! I rarely buy books (I love, love, love the library), especially at full price, but once Reagan devoured the first one, I bought the rest right away. I grew up listening to the Adventures in Odyssey radio program and I knew the doctrine was sound so I didn't feel the need to preview every book before he read them. Yay! I was super thrilled to get to review the Battle for Cannibal Island provided by the Tyndale Blog Network...or rather my son will review this great book.

Simply put, he told me that he liked the way the characters travel from one book to the next. He likes the fun adventures they go on. He doesn't want to tell the end of the story because he wants other kids to read it. :)

Stand By Me- Book Review

Neta Jackson is one of my favorite authors. She wrote the Yada Yada Prayer Group Series and then did a spin-off called the Yada Yada House of Hope Series followed by this book, Stand By Me, the 1st in the SouledOut Sisters Series. I would recommend reading these books in order because so many characters are developed as she goes and carried over into the other series. I thoroughly enjoy her books and this one did not disappoint!

Bringing Up Girls-Book Review

I have had a boy for 7 years now. I read Dr. Dobson's Bringing Up Boys when my son was 6 months old and thoroughly enjoyed it. I now have a baby girl and what a different creature she is!! She is now 9 months old and I figured it was time to read Bringing up Girls now. It starts out by talking about the physiological and psychological differences between boys and girls and I really appreciated all the research and learned a lot about myself as a girl. Dr. Dobson, as usual, hit a home run with this book and I highly recommend it.

For Women Only in the Workplace-Book Review

I love Shaunti Feldhahn's writing. While this specific book didn't speak to me at this point in my life (since I am not in the Workplace), her writing is still great. Her favorite book of mine was a joint venture with her husband called For Women Only/For Men Only. It's a two-in-one book where one side of the book is for women and the other side is for men. It's a great book for understanding the opposite sex. I would definitely recommend For Women Only in the Workplace if you are a woman in the workplace!
